À VOS BIJOUX
With its workshop in the parisien Marais, Monsieur has always been keen to create durable jewelry while promoting local craftsmanship. From this conviction and passion for this handmade craft was born Petit Monsieur, a workshop dedicated to bringing your jewelry pieces back to life, from Monsieur and others. Whether in 18 karat gold, silver, or vermeil, our jewelers can re-gild, polish, engrave, or re-size all the pieces that are dear to you.CONTACT
Vermeil is made of silver and gold and should not be in contact with perfume, cosmetic or household cleaning products. This jewelry can be cleaned with a small sponge dipped in soapy water, then dried with a jewelry polishing cloth or a microfiber cloth.
For stubborn spots, mix Spanish white wine with sunflower oil and apply the solution with a soft cloth, then dry.
Gold jewelry can be cleaned with a small sponge dipped in soapy water, then dried with a jewelry polishing cloth or a microfiber cloth. For a deeper clean, dilute baking soda in lukewarm water.
Leave the jewelry in that mixture for 10 minutes, then scrub with a clean toothbrush under lukewarm water before drying it out with a jewelry polishing cloth or a soft cloth.
Silver jewelry can be cleaned in a solution of lukewarm soapy water with a touch of lemon juice for 10 minutes. Then scrub with a clean and soft brush before rinsing under lukewarm water and dry with a jewelry polishing cloth or a soft cloth.
To get rid of spots, apply baking soda diluted in water, lemon juice, toothpaste, Blanc de Meudon, or rubbing alcohol with a soft toothbrush. After delicately scrubbing the jewelry, rinse under water and dry out with a cloth. If the stains persist, scrub with a cloth dipped in a mixture of vinegar and ammonia. For black spots, leave silver in a mixture of warm water and vinegar for 15 minutes. If the silver oxidizes, immerse the jewelry in a solution of salt and warm water, in a foil-lined bowl, then dry with a soft cloth.
For precious stones (except emeralds and diamonds), boil soapy water, remove the pot from the heat and immediately dip the jewelry. Leave in the water for around ten minutes then delicately scrub with a soft toothbrush. Clean it under lukewarm water before drying out with a jewelry polishing cloth or a soft cloth.
For diamonds, prepare a soapy water solution in a pan, submerge the jewelry and bring to a boil for 2 to 3 minutes. Finish cleaning it with a soft toothbrush then rinse under lukewarm water. Then place it for 2-3 minutes in 90° rubbing alcohol before drying with a jewelry polishing cloth or a soft cloth.
For emeralds, the most delicate stone, no soap, detergents, or even water. You can rub the gold or platinum setting with fresh bread to bring back its shine, and dust the stone by rubbing it delicately with a jewelry polishing cloth.
For pearls and opals, dust by rubbing delicately with a jewelry polishing cloth. Avoid direct contact with perfume or hairspray to prevent damaging them, and avoid wearing them during an antibiotic treatment. If it tarnishes, wear the pearls to bring back their vibrance with skin contact and occasionally place them in a humid cloth.
