Homemade tips to maintain your Monsieur Paris Jewelry...

 

Taking care of your Gold or Silver jewelry :

Silver Jewelry

  • Prepare a solution of soapy lukewarm water and add a ​little lemon juice ;
  • Let your silver jewelry soak in the solution for 10 minutes ;
  • Lightly scrub it with a soft brush ;
  • Rinse it with lukewarm clear water ;
  • Dry it with a Monsieur Paris leather cloth or a soft cloth.

To remove a stain on silver jewelry or objects :

  • With a soft used toothbrush: apply ​baking soda​ diluted with water, lemon juice, toothpaste, white Meudon, or rubbing alcohol ;
  • Rinse in clear water ;
  • Dry with a soft cloth ;
  • If the stains persist : rub a cloth dampened with a mixture of vinegar and ammonia ;
  • Rinse with clear water ;
  • If black marks appear, immerse the silver in a hot vinegar bath ;
  • If the silver rusts, immerge the object in a container with aluminum and coarse salt at the bottom, dissolved in boiling water.

Vermeil Jewelry

Vermeil is a precious metal, made of silver and coated with 5 microns of gold. On a vermeil object, small spots can disappear in contact with a sponge dampened with ​soapy water​.

For more resistant stains :

  • Mix Spanish white wine and sunflower oil ;
  • Apply the mixture with a cloth on the zone ;
  • Rinse and dry.

WARNING ​: Do not use bleach to wash silver jewelry.

Gold Jewelry

  • Prepare a solution that may be: lukewarm soapy water or baking soda diluted in lukewarm water ;
  • ​Leave to soak your gold of platinum jewelry in this solution for 10 minute ;
  • Scrub it with a soft toothbrush ;
  • Rinse it with lukewarm clear water ;
  • Dry with a leather cloth or a soft cloth.

 

Taking care of your jewelry set with precious stones Jewelry encrusted with diamonds :

Diamonds can withstand very high temperatures

  • In a small pot, prepare a soapy water solution ;
  • Soak the jewelry ;
  • Bring it to a boil and let boil ​for 2-3 minutes ;
  • ​Finish by cleaning with a soft toothbrush ;
  • Rinse the jewelry in lukewarm water ;
  • Leave for 2-3 minutes in 90° rubbing alcohol ;
  • Dry it off with a leather Monsieur Paris cloth or a soft cloth.

Gold jewelry set with precious stones (excluding emeralds and diamonds) sapphires, rubies, amethysts... 

  • Bring to a boil a small solution of soapy water ;
  • Remove the pot from the stove ​and ​immediately​ soak your jewelry in it ;
  • Let it soak for 10 minutes ;
  • Brush it with a soft toothbrush ;
  • Rinse it with clear lukewarm water ;
  • Make it shine by drying it with a leather cloth or a soft cloth.

Gold Jewelry encrusted with emeralds

The emerald is the most fragile stone, ​it does not resist in soap, detergents, or heat.

All that you can do to take care of your emerald encrusted jewelry is:

  • Brush the gold or platinum band with sandwich bread, which will give it back its shine ;
  • Give a little shine to the stone by lightly rubbing it with a Monsieur Paris leather cloth.

 

Taking care of Pearls :

Originating from a marine environment, a pearl is alive and can die. Some precautions to take :

  • After using soap or cream, wait half an hour before wearing your pearls ;
  • Do not put your pearls in contact with your perfume or your hair spray ;
  • Do not wear your pearls while taking antibiotics.

Intervene quickly if your pearl seems to be tarnishing, two methods are possible:

  • Wear your pearls in contact with your skin; they will regain their vigor ;
  • Tuck them away from time to time in a damp cloth.

 

Once your jewelry has been cleaned, store them separately in its box or in a pouch. This way you will avoid them scratching each other.
