Gold Vermeil 18-karat gold: what's the difference?

Working with gold is a commitment. Working with Gold Vermeil is a choice of precision. In the workshop, both materials are treated with the same high standards.

Here, we take the time to look back at their specific characteristics and the way in which we, at Monsieur Paris, look at precious materials.

Gold: a precious metal in its noblest form

Gold is a rare metal, sought after for its stability, longevity, and timeless shine. At Monsieur Paris, we exclusively use recycled 18-karat gold certified by the Responsible Jewelry Council (RJC). This choice reflects our commitment to responsible jewelry that respects resources and craftsmanship. 18-karat gold contains 75% pure gold, alloyed with metals such asSilver copper to ensure strength and durability. Unlike 24-karat gold, which is too malleable for everyday wear, it offers the perfect balance between the nobility of the material and durability.

Why 18-carat gold?

There are several "grades" of gold, depending on their pure gold content:

- 24 carats (99.9% gold): too soft for everyday jewelry.

- 18 carats (75% gold): the standard for fine jewelry, durable and radiant.

- 14 carats (58.5%) or 9 carats (37.5%): more economical, but less precious.

At Monsieur Paris, we've made the exclusive choice of 18-carat gold. For its quality, for its strength, but also for what it embodies: demanding craftsmanship, made to last.

Gold Vermeil a precious and responsible alternative

Gold Vermeil a precious metal recognized by French law. It is composed ofSilver (925 thousandths), covered with a thick layer of 18-karat gold of at least 5 microns.

At Monsieur Paris, this gilding is carried out in Paris, in a partner workshop selected for its high standards and mastery of the craft. The finish of Gold Vermeil very similar to solid gold: the same warm color and subtle shine. It allows us to offer pieces with a precious look at a more affordable price.
